TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida State freshman quarterback De'Andre Johnson has been charged with punching a woman in the face in a nightclub.

Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans have agreed on a five-year extension worth more than $140 million. The 22-year-old Davis is entering the final season of a four-year contract he signed after being drafted first overall out of Kentucky in 2012. The Pelicans have made no secret of their plan to build around the 6-foot-10 Davis, who is faster than most players his size, can score from inside and outside, and changes games defensively with his shot-blocking and rebounding.

Chris Sale forced another avalanche of swings and misses. The Chicago White Sox lefty matched a major league record by striking out at least 10 in eight straight starts. ''I got to do a few things I normally don't do,'' Sale said after the White Sox outlasted the St. Louis Cardinals 2-1 in 11 innings on a home run by Tyler Flowers.

Carli Lloyd remembers putting the ball on its spot and shutting out the noise of more than 51,000 anxious fans. Lloyd's penalty kick got the United States on the board, and the Americans went on to a 2-0 victory over top-ranked Germany in the semifinals of the Women's World Cup on Tuesday night. Lloyd's penalty kick in the 69th minute went into the right side of the goal less than 10 minutes after Celia Sasic shot wide on a penalty kick for Germany.


Keuchel dominates again to help Astros shut out Royals 4-0 (Yahoo Sports):

Dallas Keuchel probably could have thrown a second straight complete game on Tuesday night. Houston Astros manager A.J. Hinch decided it would better not to overwork his ace. Keuchel allowed seven hits in eight innings to lead the Astros to a 4-0 win over the Kansas City Royals.

The Chicago Blackhawks said all along that Brandon Saad would be back next season. With contract talks at a stalemate on the eve of NHL free agency, the Stanley Cup champions parted with Saad in a seven-player deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Blackhawks also sent forward Alex Broadhurst and defenseman Michael Paliotta to the Blue Jackets for forwards Artem Anisimov, Marko Dano, Jeremy Morin and Corey Tropp and a fourth-round selection in the 2016 draft.

Lionel Messi helped set up five goals as Argentina trounced Paraguay 6-1 in the Copa America semifinals on Tuesday, setting up a final against host Chile. Messi assisted in first-half goals by Marcos Rojo and Javier Pastore and one of Angel Di Maria's second-half goals. The Barcelona star also helped set up the final two goals by Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain.
