The very first interpretation of this story was by Diodorus Siculus who wrote between 60 and 30 BCE and annexed this myth in The Library of History, a chronicle in forty books of the history of Greece, Rome, India, and Egypt. Stories of Daedalus were narrated by Apollodorus (ca.180 - 120 BC), a Greek scholar, historian and grammarian and later the Roman poet Virgil (70-19BC) briefly mentioned this character in his Aeneid. Ovid (43 BC- 17AD), also a Roman poet wrote a much longer and a more poetic account in "The Metaphorphoses" (8CE). Two centuries later in 160 CE, the Greek geographer Pausianas included the myth in his Descriptions of Greece.
